Cole Simpson Signs NAHL Tender with Odessa Jackalopes
The Colorado Springs Tigers of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce that forward Cole Simpson has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Odessa Jackalopes of the NAHL’s South Division.
Simpson 18, is in his second season of playing in the NAPHL for the Tigers. The 5’10” 170 lbs. native of Wadesville, IN has 14 points (11 goals and 3 assists) in 23 NAPHL games played this season including 5 goals in this year’s playoffs.
“We played in Odessa last year and the town seemed great” said Simpson. “I really liked the facilities and the fans loved the team; I look forward to being a part of all of it.”
Looking back on his time with the Tigers Simpson said “Everything with the Tigers program is professional, the facilities, the coaches and the commitment. The teammates that I have had the last two years will be my friends for life and the coaches have helped my game so much to get me to this point.”
Simpson is the third player from the Colorado Springs Tigers AAA 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender so far this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 2, 2020.
