Tigers 18U Meet the Ice Wolves NA3HL This Weekend

The Colorado Springs Tigers 18U AAA team will host the New Mexico Ice Wolves NA3 team this weekend in a two-game set of exhibition games in Colorado Springs. This will be inaugural season for the Ice Wolves as they join the NA3 South Division.

Entering its 13th season in 2022-23, the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL), is the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III Junior league and serves as one of the top training grounds in the country by providing the best coaching, exposure and developmental vehicles available for student-athletes in its classification.

Darren Banks, head coach of the Ice Wolves is looking forward to the start of the season “We are excited for this weekend. Our guys have worked very hard through training camp and are excited to play and compete against a perennially good team. It will also be our first time on the road, we expect this to be a great bonding experience for our players.”

The teams will open the weekend Friday at the World Arena Ice Hall with a 6:30pm puck drop. The teams will bounce back for its second game also at the Ice Hall Saturday at 3:45pm.

Tigers Head Coach Kevin Holmstrom looks at the weekend with several goals, “First this is a great opportunity for our group to play a junior team as we prepare for the NAPHL showcase next week. We have a good relationship with coach Banks and the New Mexico program and look for both teams to compete hard. We will be able to get our players some live game action as we evaluate each zone and gain valuable experience leading into the season.”

This is a great example of the NAHL’s ladder of development as these teams and their respective divisions look to develop and promote its players to the next level. The exhibition games will be free and open to the public and a great opportunity to catch some early season Tiger hockey.
